This Is Quite Important If You’re English
Hi,
Have a look at this:
http://www.38degrees.org.uk/nhs-lords-donate
I’ve just donated to help pay for the 38 Degrees campaign to save our NHS. If enough of us chip in to raise £20,000 by Thursday, we can launch the campaign this weekend. 38 Degrees members can help persuade the Lords to make changes to the NHS bill.
We can send them thousands of messages, to make them realise these NHS changes are unpopular and need to be stopped. We can organise events in parliament, to put Lords face to face with experts who can explain in detail why these NHS plans are so dangerous.
The Lords start voting in just 2 weeks time. If we’re going to make sure they vote the right way we need to get started now.
Could you help out too?

How To Improve Your Negotiating Skills In Seven Easy Steps
Do you ever wish that you were better at negotiating? Annoyed that people always seem to be getting a better deal than you? Frustrated that you always seem to be getting the worse end of any deal you’re part of? It’s a fact of life that some people are better at negotiating than others. I believe that it is an essential skill in life. If you want to live a free life, you need to be able to hold your own in a negotiation. You need to be able to get the best deal possible for you and your business. Failing to do this will mean that you don’t make as much profit and have to work more or harder. These things are bad by the way. Whoever told you working hard was a good thing was lying or mislead themselves.
In the UK especially, I also believe a lot in the Western world as well, we have lost the art of negotiating. We go to our shop and we pay what they tell us. Everything is so easy. Whilst it is true that you will find it very difficult to get prices down on your groceries if you go to Tesco or Wallmart or 7/11 or wherever you buy your shopping from, if you go to private suppliers, they will be more likely to offer you some sort of discount.
Step 1 – Negotiation Opportunities Are Everywhere
In tough economic times, there are plenty of opportunities to get into a negotiation with someone. The more practice you get, the more comfortable you will be with negotiating. Some people feel really bad asking for 10% off the price of a product. In the Middle East or anywhere where there are lots of markets, if you pay full price you’re thought to be a sucker. I agree. No one pays full price if they don’t have to.
To get good at negotiating, you need to negotiate. It is as simple as that. Whilst this article might help you, the hard work needs to come from you. Without it you’re just wasting your time. Get out there and start negotiating
Step 2 – Win Win Mentality
The win win mentality is very important. When you’re negotiating, you need to be constantly thinking how you can make this deal work for both sides. If people see you as just trying to bully them into giving you money off then they are less likely to be receptive to you. Try and find ways to make both you and the seller winners. People like it when people try and help them out and tend to reciprocate.
It’s very important to know what you want when you start negotiating but you need to be flexible too. Opportunities may present themselves that are very good deals but might not be exactly what you wanted. If your head is clear and you know what you are hoping to achieve you can often create an excellent opportunities.
Step 3 – Freedom From Outcome
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter what the outcome is. The world will go on and a hole in the ground won’t swallow you up and eat you alive. You should care but you shouldn’t mind whether or not you make the best deal.
When I worked as a salesman they told me the following rule
Fear of loss is greater than desire to gain
This is a really powerful statement. People do not want to lose out on something and will take steps to prevent this rather than taking steps to increase their net gain. This motivation is very powerful and can be a useful emotional button you can press.
If you’re genuinely not emotionally connected to the outcome, this will present it’s self in many ways to the other side and they will try to make sure you make the deal. They’re scared that you will walk.
Step 4 – Frame Control, Leading and Dominance
The strongest reality wins. If I believe stronger than you that you will do something, chances are you will do it. In negotiating, having a strong frame is critical.
People typically like being told what to do. This sheep mentality is programmed into us from the time we were at school.
As an aside, did you know that the school system people send their children to was designed to make them more efficient factory workers and soldiers? There is next to nothing at school that will prepare you for work as an entrepreneur or businessman.
If you can lead and dominate an interaction well, you will eventually get the other person to submit and go along with you.
Note that dominating doesn’t mean shouting and screaming all the time. The other person needs to know that you are in control of the negotiation. Even if you are giving them some freedom to move, you are the person who will make it happen. If you don’t like it you won’t.
Step 5 – Vocal Control and Body Language
I’ve mentioned a lot of things about being dominant, leading and not caring about the outcome of a negotiation. Typically people who are new to negotiations do not know how to effectively convey these emotions and actions in a congruent way so I’m going to tell you some tricks and exercises you can do to help you get there.
Body Language
I can read so much from people based on their body language and I’m not even trying to make the reads most of the time. Imagine what someone who is trained and looking for the tells will see in you? There are many excellent books and courses on body language out there and if it is something you are interested I recommend you check out What Every Body Is Saying: An Ex-FBI Agent’s Guide to Speed-reading People for a comprehensive guide on body language but you don’t need to know every subtlety to show good body language.
Don’t be afraid to take up space. This is a sign of confidence. Imagine yourself on a bus. You take what space you need to be comfortable and let others find their way around you. A player does what he wants and everyone else does what they can about it. If you’re not always in that mode, practice taking up space. See how much space you can take up on the sofa, then on the bus, the cinema, wherever. You will find that people start to accept it and give you your space.
When it comes to negotiations, there’s no need to spread yourself massively all over the place. Exaggerating something for effect is not congruent with confidence. Don’t be afraid to take up what space you need though. If you practice taking up space it will start to come naturally to you anyway.
Vocal Tonality, Pace and Pitch
Vocal tonality is critical to showing strong frame control. There are three modes of tonality. High, Neutral and Low. High tonality is where you finish up a sentence with the pitch increasing like when you ask a question. This means you’re typically looking for a response. This is weak tonality and shows a weak frame. In some ways you require the other person to finish your thought.
Neutral tonality has neither an increase or decrease in pitch at the end and is just that, neutral.
Low tonality is where your pitch decreases at the end of a sentence. It is the strongest of the vocal tonalities. Often referred to as breaking rapport tonality, if used correctly then this can be a lethal weapon in your negotiating arsenal. People have a desire to be liked and hence tend to chase breaking rapport so if you can break rapport with someone at the right moment, they will often start reacting to you and giving you what you want.
For the most part of the negotiation it’s ok to use neutral or some combination of neutral and breaking. At the right time, and you will start to get a sense for this, you can fully break rapport with the person and if they chase you, they are yours.
Overall the pitch and pace should be low and slow. Speak from your diaphragm not through your nose. Speak slowly shows control and speaking in a low pitch shows self control too. All key aspects of a strong frame
Step 6 – Know When To Walk Away
Sometimes you can’t get a good deal. Don’t try to make a deal for the sake of making a deal if it’s not good. If you don’t think the person is being reasonable or you’re not appearing to get any headway forward, it’s totally OK to leave the negotiation with nothing. At the end of the day, whilst win win mentality is important, you are still the prize as far as they’re concerned.
Telling someone that you can’t do a deal with them and walking off is a great way to break rapport and again, if they chase you, they’re yours.
Step 7 – ABC: Always Be Closing
Get used to making deals in negotiating. If you get a good deal that works for you, shake hands on it. Don’t be too greedy but always make sure that you’re closing the best deals. This will make you feel good about yourself and give you more confidence the next time you want to get involved in a negotiation. You will soon get the idea in your head that you are a negotiator and you get the best deals for yourself. This will manifest it’s self as part of your strong frame (See Step 4) and make deals even better and easier to achieve.

Making Money Online – Choosing What To Write
So you’ve decided you want to make money online using article marketing. Great. I wish you a long and successful career. Learning how to make money online may be one of the smartest decisions you ever make. Remember that the barrier for entry to the world of making money online is very low. Anyone can try but few people successfully make a living online. It will take time and effort but I will show you how it is done.
Before you can start making money online you need to decide what you want to write about. I recommend you pick something you are passionate about. When you don’t feel like writing an article it is so much easier to motivate yourself to write about something you love. Whilst I’m not going to share what I write about explicitly, when I first started up I had a number of websites. Some I was passionate about the subject matter, others less so. Over time the ones I was less passionate about began to shrink. They didn’t make as much money. I was even less passionate about them. Vicious cycle.
Now, Google likes people to write sites that promote their advertisers. They even offer you tools to do it. Once you’ve thought of something interesting to write about, type it into the Google Adwords Tool.
For this article I chose the key word ‘Dogs’ and it gave me a related list of keywords as well as how many times they were being searched for in Google, as well as an estimated cost per click. Adwords is for people selling ads so the cost per click here also includes Google’s share. What stood out to me was that the keyword ‘Puppies’ was getting some serious attention at a relatively high cost per click around £3.00. If I were looking to write something about dogs, I would decide to target this keyword hard in my websites.
Once you have decided on your keyword for your new site it’s time to go ahead and build it. For how to build a site that makes money online, check back later and I will tell you everything I know.
How To Make Money Online – How It All Works
I promised you a series of posts on how to make money online and I will absolutely deliver. Making money online is very easy and very difficult at the same time. It is not a get rich quick scheme but it is definitely a get rich scheme. To be good at making money online you need to understand search engines, search engine optimisation, statistics, web development, article ranking and other search engine optimisation. I’m going to start with a very basic outline of how you can make money online. The principles underlying the system that I use to make money online.
It works like this. Ad servers like Google get paid to have peoples’ adverts online. Google is the number one search engine and is built into almost every browser by default. To Google has even become a word in the English language. A lot of people use Google and people trying to sell products know this. If you didn’t know, when you search Google for something, it pops up targeted ads next to your search results. When you click through the link, the advertiser pays Google an agreed amount and the person can decide wether or not they want to buy the product.
How Google really innovates is by allowing third party web developers, like myself and like you in the future, to put Google’s ads on your site. Google crawls through the site (look up search engines) and looks at your previous search history and finds the most suitable ads. Payment is shared between Google and the person who owns the website.
As an internet marketer, someone who makes money online, I write websites that appeal to both the buyer and the seller. I then maximise their exposure to Google and try to build the ranking. Building the ranking means more people who search for the terms I have targeted get directed to my site via Google and other search engines.
The more people come through, the more people will click on your site. That is the essence of online marketing. There is more to it though. The best online marketers may have close to 100 websites and this is where it starts to get lucrative. One website might make you £2, maybe £3 maximum in a day. If you have 100 websites all making that, well you can do the maths (if you can’t, it’s £300 per day). If you start to build very high traffic websites you can begin to demand your own permanent adverts and still run Google adverts. For example this site may generate 10,000 hits per day for people searching for making money online. I can leverage that to people such as web hosts who will pay me some form of commission.
Green Tea Is Magical
Given my awesome heavy drinking hard partying girl chasing lifestyle exhorts certain tolls on my body, I am always interested in ways to keep myself in top shape. I ran across the green tea pills website earlier today and found their post about how green tea is better than red wine for keeping you healthy. I’ve always known that red wine is very good for you. In fact I like to consume at least half a bottle a day but I wasn’t aware just how much better for you green tea is.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m still going to have my half a bottle of red wine a day but instead of having it for breakfast, I will save it for later. In the morning I will replace it with a cup of coffee and some green tea pills. Green tea is for pussies anyway. To get the real sharp morning feeling I need a strong (AND I MEAN STRONG) hit of java lava coffee to cut through the hangover and the ringing in my ears. I do like the idea of a really strong anti oxidant in the morning though, so I think I will buy some green tea pills and wash them down with coffee I think girls will stop looking at me weird when I roll out of bed and reach for my bottle of Cabernet Merlot too. That was always a difficult one to explain.
Anyway. I will likely get a guest post from this blog up here as soon as I have finished writing my series on getting rich online.
For those of you that have been under a rock recently, you can catch up on the series.
Making Money Online – Passive Income
Passive income is what making money online is all about. It is such a big deal I decided to start off my little series about how to make money online with a rant about it. Hopefully it will inspire you and you will start to make loads of money.
Why is passive income such a big deal might you ask? The question is fair and the answer is simple. Passive income allows people like me that don’t really like working to make money anyway, despite not trudging to work day to day and getting stuck in the rat race. It is an unavoidable fact of life that anyone who wants to do anything needs to have a source of income. It may be an active one, such as a desk job where you trade time for money, or a passive source of income such as an online marketing business where you trade your value for money. In most cases I try to trade other peoples value for my money but I reward their time with my own money too so it’s all good.
By the way, it still mystifies me why people will write me 300 word articles for a couple of dollars when I am going to use them to make hundreds over the lifetime of a website. Those people should probably read my articles.
Put bluntly, having strong passive income streams allow you to do what the hell you want, whenever you want to, without having to worry about how you’re going to pay for it.
To be truly uninhibited you need to have a good passive source of income. It’s no good having all the good stuff I’m going to share with you but not being able to use any of it because you don’t have any money. Take some time to work on a passive source of income. It’s worth the short term investment for the long term rewards.
How To Make Money Online
There are so many ways to make money online it is ridiculous. However, because it is so easy to do, there are a lot of frauds. Passive income using SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) is one way. You can also get involved in affiliate marketing or many other ways.
Anyone out there who tells you you can make money for working 30 minutes a week is flat out lying.
I have developed a strategy that allows me to make close to £1oo a day without having to do a job and I plan to share it with you.
This method of generating income is so unbelievably liberating you cannot begin to understand it until you’ve experienced it.
Over the next few posts I will explain to you exactly how you and anyone else can make plenty of money online relatively easily.
The benefits of making money online is that it frees up so much of your time. Time is the only thing we can’t get more of. It is important to me to make sure I have as much time as possible because I like to sleep. I like to work out. I like to play sports. I don’t like sitting in an office. That kind of nonsense is boring to me. Having a passive source of income that covers your rent and your bills is such a good thing. It means you can shift your focus onto the things you really love. My passion is nature and the environment and I recently set up a set of websites to enlighten people about green living. The websites are eco friendly, green technology, sustainability and green business. They all make me a little money. I also run other websites that are set up to make money too.
Unfortunately money is important. You need money to live so it is important to take care of that but once you’ve got enough money to survive, any additional money will not make you happy. I will tell you how to be happy in future posts.
